Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange has been accused of hitting a boda boda rider in Westlands, Nairobi, in an incident reported to have occurred around noon yesterday. Political commentator George T. Diano alleged on X that Koinange was driving his G-Wagon, reportedly without a number plate, and may have been under the influence at the time.
According to Diano, Koinange allegedly fled the scene immediately after the collision. The injured rider is currently receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital for multiple injuries, including broken legs.
Diano criticized the alleged actions, framing them as part of a broader issue of “entitlement among elites,” who he says sometimes flout the law without facing consequences. He further claimed to have supporting evidence, including the official police OB (Occurrence Book) number, should Koinange deny the allegations.
The claims have sparked significant discussion on social media, with many Kenyans raising concerns about accountability for high-profile individuals and the enforcement of traffic laws.
Authorities have not officially confirmed the incident, and it remains unclear whether legal proceedings will follow.
