Ruth Odinga warns-Sifuna and Babu have a lot of people behind them, If we chase them out of ODM, they will leave with their people

Ruth Odinga has issued a stern warning regarding potential internal turmoil within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), cautioning that attempts to forcefully remove influential leaders could trigger a significant exodus from the party.

Speaking during a public engagement, Ruth Odinga singled out Deputy Party Leader Johnson Sifuna and Nairobi Senator Babu Owino, stating, “Sifuna and Babu have a lot of people behind them. If we chase them out of ODM, they will leave with their people.”

Her remarks come amid growing speculation about factionalism and power struggles within ODM, one of Kenya’s largest political parties. Analysts say her statement highlights the delicate balance party leadership must strike in managing internal disagreements without alienating influential figures whose support base could significantly impact the party’s strength and electoral fortunes.

Ruth Odinga emphasized that the loyalty of key party leaders extends beyond personal influence, noting that their supporters could follow them out of the party if disagreements escalate. “We must be careful not to make decisions that fracture the party or weaken its position in upcoming elections,” she reportedly added.

The warning has sparked widespread discussion online and among political observers, with some arguing that it underscores the need for dialogue and negotiation within ODM, while others suggest it reflects underlying tensions that could shape Kenya’s political landscape in the coming months.

As the party navigates these challenges, members and supporters are closely watching how leadership manages competing interests, with Ruth Odinga’s statement serving as a reminder of the potential consequences of sidelining influential voices within the party.
