Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has come out strongly to defend Somali leaders while lecturing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, insisting that Kenyan Somalis have equal rights across the country.
Speaking during a public forum, Junet questioned Gachagua’s remarks on property ownership, saying, “Wewe Gachagua nani amekukataza usijengee apartment zako hapa Nairobi? Hii Kenya we are not visitors, mumetuzoea sana!”
Junet emphasized that Kenya belongs to all its citizens and that no community should be portrayed as outsiders in their own country. He defended Somali leaders and businesspeople, stating that they have the constitutional right to invest, live, and own property anywhere in Kenya without intimidation or discrimination.
His comments have sparked wide reactions online, with supporters praising him for speaking out against ethnic profiling, while critics accused him of inflaming political tensions. The exchange has added to ongoing national conversations about inclusivity, leadership, and unity in Kenya’s political landscape.
