A young lady from Kitale, Trans Nzoia county, could be on the verge of spending the Christmas season alone in a foreign country.
TikTok user Rodah travelled to Oman in search of greener pastures, but she is already longing to return home before the end of the year.
She worked as a house help in the Middle East nation, noting in her heartbreaking videos that life has not been easy and that she desperately wants to return home.
Rodah said she had worked for six months in Oman and did not wish to continue staying there due to mistreatment.
“I was working in a house that had several family members, most of them young men. The married woman used to bring her clothes, her husband’s clothes, and the baby’s clothes. The workload was overwhelming, and since I had no choice, I pushed myself until my sixth month because after six months one can pay for their ticket and return home,” she narrated.
Rodah further claimed she was mistreated by one young man who allegedly made advances toward her.
She said she feared reporting the matter to his parents, worried that it could lead to further mistreatment.
On Monday, December 15, Rodah told her employers that she needed to rush back to Kenya to handle family matters and would return afterward.
“They told me they did not have money for my ticket. I said I would talk to the office and organise it. I spoke to the office and sent money for my ticket. They paid for my ticket and did all the paperwork needed. Unfortunately, a day later they called me to the office saying they had changed their minds and refused to give me my passport. Please help me, I am stranded,” she cried.
As if that was not enough, during her moment of desperation after pleading for help online, a scammer reached out to her, claiming he could assist her return to Kenya.
He convinced her to send money to his number so he could help her leave Oman after the challenges she had faced.
