“So odm has been sold to Kasongo na watu washapewa deposit they were waiting for Raila to go! It’s sad”-Nuru Okanga

Political activist Nuru Okanga has sparked debate after alleging that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has already been “sold” to new political forces following Raila Odinga’s plans to exit active local politics.

Speaking in a viral clip circulating online, Okanga claimed that ODM has been taken over by individuals he identified as “Kasongo” and others, suggesting that certain leaders had already received “deposits” as part of the alleged takeover. According to him, some party officials had been waiting for Raila Odinga to step aside before shifting loyalties.

Okanga, a well-known ODM supporter, expressed disappointment at what he described as betrayal within the party. He said it was “sad” that a party built over many years could allegedly be handed over to new political players without consultation or transparency.

He argued that ODM risked losing its identity and grassroots support if leaders continued aligning themselves with emerging political formations instead of defending the party’s legacy and structures.

Okanga’s remarks come at a time when ODM is facing growing speculation about internal divisions, especially following Raila Odinga’s continental ambitions and the changing political landscape ahead of 2027.

The party has not issued an official response to Okanga’s claims, and no leader has confirmed or denied the allegations. However, the comments have stirred discussion among supporters, with some dismissing the claims as political exaggeration while others say the party should address concerns about its direction.

As the debate continues, observers note that ODM may face increased scrutiny in the coming months as alliances shift and new political strategies emerge across the country.
