“Tumeanza mchakato wa kuondoa Boni Khalwale na wabunge wengine wote wa UDA na ODM ambao hawakuunga mkono candidates wa broadbased kwenye uchaguzi mdogo, ” Cherargei

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has issued a stern warning to lawmakers from both UDA and ODM who failed to support the broad-based candidates during the recent by-elections. Speaking strongly, Cherargei announced that a formal process has begun to remove those MPs from all parliamentary committees and leadership positions.

According to the senator, party unity and loyalty were put to the test during the by-elections, yet several legislators chose to work against the agreed political position. He stated that such behaviour undermines party cohesion and cannot be tolerated, especially at a time when the ruling coalition is pushing for stability and aligned decision-making.

“Tumeanza mchakato wa kuondoa Boni Khalwale na wabunge wengine wote wa UDA na ODM ambao hawakuunga mkono candidates wa broadbased kwenye uchaguzi mdogo, kutoka kamati zote na nafasi zao za uongozi bungeni,” Cherargei said, emphasising that disciplinary action is unavoidable.

His remarks have already sparked political debate. Supporters of the move argue that parties must enforce discipline to maintain order and credibility. However, critics see the decision as politically vindictive and warn that it could widen rifts within both coalitions.

As the process unfolds, the political landscape in Parliament is expected to shift, with affected MPs potentially losing influential positions and committee roles. The development adds fresh tension to Kenya’s already charged political atmosphere.
