Detectives in Nairobi have arrested a father and son accused of orchestrating a series of M-Pesa fraud cases in Gikomba market.
The two, identified as Peter Mwendwa Musyoka, 49, and his son Dennis Musyoka, 23, were tracked down and apprehended at their hideout in Nyama Villa estate, Komarock, after weeks of investigation.
According to investigators, the duo was behind a Sh236,000 fraud incident reported at Gikomba market on September 2, 2025.
Their digital footprints allegedly led detectives to their residence, where several exhibits were recovered.
Items seized included laptops, smartphones, identity cards, agent numbers, paybill details and dozens of SIM cards linked to the fraudulent activities.
Preliminary findings indicate that the father is believed to be the mastermind who recruited and mentored his son into the scheme.
The two are suspected to be part of a larger network targeting mobile money agents across Nairobi.
Police believe the syndicate has been in operation for months, syphoning millions from unsuspecting operators through elaborate con games.
The suspects were placed in custody at Shauri Moyo Police Station, where they are being processed before facing fraud-related charges in court.
Meanwhile, detectives have intensified the search for other accomplices believed to be working with the pair.
Authorities have urged mobile money operators to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station as investigations into the syndicate continue.
