Huyu ni kigeugeu tu!: Kioni Claims Gachagua and Ruto Working on Secret Political Deal

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of playing double politics while pretending to oppose President William Ruto.

Speaking on Sunday evening, Kioni alleged that Gachagua recently met with about 15 leaders, including members of the clergy, in Narok County. The meeting reportedly centered on the controversy surrounding the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), which denied Joshua Ole Kaputa a ticket for the Narok Town Ward by-election.

According to Kioni, Gachagua assured the leaders that Kaputa’s setback was part of a broader political arrangement with President Ruto and that he would be considered for another opportunity in the future.

Kioni further claimed that Gachagua boasted of his political influence, allegedly saying he could deliver 7 million votes from Mt. Kenya, 1 million from Kalonzo Musyoka’s supporters, and 800,000 from Fred Matiang’i’s political base. Gachagua is also said to have promised benefits to the Maasai community once he secured “half of the political cake.”

Kioni dismissed such maneuvering as selfish and misleading, insisting that Jubilee Party was not interested in alliances founded on secrecy and personal gain.

“We would like to work with like-minded parties that actually believe in sending William Ruto home, not in ‘get your people and I get mine,’” Kioni declared.

He further urged young people across the country to actively participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise launched by the IEBC on September 29.

“You must register and register in numbers. It makes no sense to be an active critic of the government and fail to vote them out. Failure to do that amounts to voting them in,” he stated.

Kioni’s remarks add to the growing political tension within the opposition camp, with Jubilee keen to distance itself from leaders it perceives as insincere in the push to unseat President Ruto in 2027.
