Growing up in Entebbe, Uganda, Jane always carried the heavy label of being “the last in class.” No matter how hard she tried, her grades never seemed to improve. Teachers constantly complained, classmates mocked her, and even her family sometimes gave up hope. While her siblings excelled in school, Jane became the black sheep of the family. She felt ashamed, hopeless, and convinced that she would never achieve anything academic in life.

She remembers nights when she would sit alone with her books, crying quietly. No matter how many hours she spent revising, her results always disappointed her. This cycle of failure continued for years until she was almost ready to drop out of school. But something in her refused to give up.
