Police in Nairobi are probing a shocking case in which a sixteen-year-old girl was allegedly drugged in a matatu and later found in an unfinished building after being sexually assaulted.
The girl, identified only as Naomi to protect her identity, had boarded the vehicle on her way back to school after the holiday break.
According to her family, she felt dizzy during the ride and later lost consciousness. The next thing she recalled was waking up inside a deserted building, confused and in pain.
Her mother said it was disturbing that her daughter had drifted off to sleep in a matatu only to wake up in a building still under construction, showing clear signs of sexual assault.
She is now pleading with authorities to pursue justice and is urging parents to remain alert during the back-to-school season.
After regaining some strength, Naomi managed to walk out of the site and asked a passerby for help.
The Good Samaritan escorted her to her sister’s home, where her mother was contacted and informed of the ordeal.
The family reported the matter to Kingo Police Station.
However, they claim the case has not progressed, leaving them frustrated and desperate for counseling services for their daughter.
The attack has sparked fresh concerns about the safety of young women using public transport.
Parents have been urged to stay vigilant and warn their children about possible risks when commuting.
Police have launched investigations, but no arrests have been made so far.
