Crisis Deepens at Moi University as Striking Lecturers Claim They Are Being Targeted With Sack Warnings!

Striking lecturers at Moi University in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, now allege that they have been receiving threats over their ongoing industrial action.

Officials from the Universities’ Academic Staff Union (UASU), led by Duncan Mukhwana, accused the institution of intimidation, insisting that the strike will continue until all grievances are addressed.

“We are aware that some members have been warned they could be terminated if they don’t return to work. We want to assure our members that no such action will happen,” Mukhwana said.

The lecturers vowed to stay put, pointing out that no agreement has been reached with the university council. They further revealed that staff have gone three months without medical cover, while pension funds and loans remain unpaid — leaving them unable to access credit facilities.

The strike, which began on August 20, 2025, has paralyzed learning at the institution. Moi University has in recent years faced a series of management crises, leading to financial struggles, staff unrest, and frustration among students and parents.
