Shock and outrage have gripped residents of Seren village in Samburu County after a woman was brutally assaulted by a male neighbour in what appears to be a suspected love triangle gone wrong.
Priscilla Lolonyekie, a 24-year-old mother of one, was viciously attacked in the dead of night after being accused of meddling in her neighbour’s marriage.
The incident unfolded after the suspect found his wife knitting a beaded belt that had been given to her by Priscilla for help in completing
Misinterpreting the belt as a gift for another man, he became enraged.
That night, he stormed Priscilla’s home, knocked on her door, and launched a violent attack with a wooden club, leaving her unconscious.
She sustained serious head injuries and internal bleeding and was later rushed to Samburu County Referral Hospital in Maralal in critical condition.
The suspect, identified as Lempiris Lemargas, fled the scene and is currently being sought by police.
Authorities confirmed that a manhunt is underway and have appealed to the public for any information on his whereabouts.
The brutal assault has sparked outrage from community members and human rights groups, who are demanding swift justice and calling for increased protection for women in the region.
As she recovers, the community is calling for not just an arrest but long-term action to end impunity.
