Mary-Ann Musangi, daughter of the late billionaire Chris Kirubi, is among Kenya’s most influential women. She took over the management of her father’s Sh40 billion estate following his death in 2021.
Born in 1971 in Nairobi, Mary-Ann was raised alongside her brother Robert and stepsister Fiona. She was sent to Switzerland for school at the age of 12 and later earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Surrey in the UK. She also holds a Master’s degree in Management.
Her career includes roles at top firms such as Coca-Cola, KCB, GlaxoSmithKline, and Ogilvy. She also served on the boards of Haco, UAP Investments, International House, and more. In 2019, she became Managing Director of Haco Industries, leading its shift to local manufacturing.
Mary-Ann is married to Andrew Musangi, Chair of the Central Bank of Kenya. A mother of two, she continues to serve on various boards, including the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and the Gender and Violence Recovery Centre.
She credits her father for instilling strong business values and the gift of education.
