Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has expressed strong opposition to the proposed use of National Social Security Fund (NSSF) money to finance infrastructure projects. The lawmaker, who previously chaired the Budget and Appropriations Committee, said that contributions made by Kenyan workers should only be used to secure their retirement and future welfare.
Nyoro argued that using NSSF funds to build roads or other infrastructure is not only inappropriate but also risks the financial safety of millions of contributors. He emphasized that the government has a duty to invest the funds wisely in ventures that bring long-term returns to the contributors.
Additionally, the MP cautioned the government and the National Treasury against engaging in internal borrowing without approval from Parliament. He said such actions would be unlawful and could harm the country’s economy in the future.
Nyoro urged transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, noting that any misstep in handling workers’ savings could have lasting consequences on national development and economic stability.
