Salongo Nsikonnene Habib Ssezigu, a renowned traditional healer, has once again captured public attention by revealing that he fathered seven children within a single year.
In September 2023, the 45-year-old made headlines when he married seven wives on the same day, including two sisters. Salongo has expressed his ambition to father at least 100 children, a goal that appears to be progressing steadily.
A well-known figure in Uganda’s Mukono District, Salongo Nsikonnene Habib Ssezigu has sparked discussions due to his unique family structure. According to the Daily Monitor, he recently disclosed the birth of seven children in just one year. His extravagant wedding, which took place in a traditional Muslim ceremony at Bugereka Village, cost an estimated KSh 3 million.
The grand event included individual receptions at each wife’s home before culminating in a final large gathering at their shared residence. The spectacle was marked by an impressive convoy of 40 motorbikes and 35 automobiles, drawing widespread attention in Mukono District.
Beyond his personal life, Salongo has demonstrated generosity by funding local road improvements, purchasing new cars for each of his wives, and gifting boda bodas to his in-laws. His decision to marry multiple women simultaneously stirred significant debate on social media. While some religious leaders condemned his actions on moral and ethical grounds, others defended him by drawing historical and biblical comparisons.
Despite the controversy, Salongo remains steadfast in his beliefs. He praises his wives for their harmonious coexistence and defends his polygamous lifestyle. “My wives have no jealousy among themselves. I introduced them separately and married them all at once to create a big, happy family,” he explained.
He has reiterated his desire to expand his family significantly, citing a need to build a larger lineage. “There are very few of us in my family, so I want to have many children to create a big family,” he stated. With seven children already born in under a year, his ambition of fathering 100 children appears to be well on its way.
Salongo’s unconventional family structure continues to be a subject of fascination and debate in the region. While it remains uncertain whether he will achieve his ambitious goal, his story continues to captivate the public’s attention.
