Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has fulfilled a commitment she made a year ago by officially inaugurating the Akothee Academy nursery school on December 13.
Celebrating this significant milestone, she warmly welcomed 30 children to the school. Akothee, a mother of five, expressed her delight in the project, describing the establishment of preschool classes (PP1 and PP2) as a heartfelt gift to her community. She envisions expanding the school to primary and secondary levels in the future, thereby contributing significantly to the educational landscape of the region.
In a social media announcement, she shared the inspiration behind this initiative, stating, “Recognizing the need for a secure place for children under 5, I aim to provide mothers with a place where they can entrust their children while seeking a livelihood. Our commitment is to nurture, educate, entertain, and cultivate qualities that foster smart, self-respecting, and character-developing children.”
Situated in Rakwaro Kanyawendo, where the singer has established her retirement home, the nursery school holds special significance for the artist. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for young children and reiterated her dedication to supporting mothers in the community.
Moreover, the mothers of these children have been given job opportunities to empower them economically. Sharing her thoughts on this, she mentioned, “I, Esther Akoth Kokeyo, have equally taken in 30 students from vulnerable families under the Foundation’s sponsorship programs. Additionally, providing mothers the opportunity to work and earn their daily livelihood as they care for their children.”
The launch of the nursery school coincides with her recent graduation, where she obtained a degree in business management. Reflecting on her past investments in the education of others, the singer addressed the ingratitude she faced, with some claiming to be better than her.
