The ex-Citizen TV anchor was born at Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

Father’s profession?

The award winning journalist dad was a soldier in the Kenya Air Force.

Growing Up

Hussein grew up at the base until he hit 19 years. He told Sunday Nation’s Hillary Kimunyu that he used to play football with his siblings and friends. Hussein proceeded to add that he actually has a connection with the base.

He has eight siblings. His senior sibling died in 2000.

Where he went to school

He was a student at Moi Air Base before continuing to Jamhuri High School for his O-levels.His father was under pressure to enrol him in a boarding school but opted otherwise. He credits Jamhuri High for teaching him to be street smart.

Hussein Mohamed did a diploma in broadcast journalism at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and later on joined the University of Nairobi for an undergraduate degree in political science and communications.

He holds a Masters degree in diplomacy and is said to have enrolled for a PhD in the same university.
