In a recent interview with TV47, Akothee, the renowned singer, shared some intriguing revelations about her romantic life and experiences as a parent.
Having five children from three different fathers, Akothee disclosed that she initiated a WhatsApp group to encourage co-parenting among her children’s fathers. However, she acknowledged the challenges in managing the group, particularly due to one of her ex-partners being dramatic and possessive.
“When I am in a relationship, he starts drama. He does not want me with another man,” Akothee disclosed. “This same individual creates daily emotional turmoil for me. My son is 14 years old, and I anticipate four more years of such experiences. He is incredibly obstinate and frequently exits the WhatsApp group, blocking and unblocking me before rejoining. His stubbornness is quite remarkable.”
Akothee also delved into her past relationships and marriages, revealing that her initial marriage at the age of 14 had a modest budget of Sh2500, while her most recent wedding cost approximately Sh8 million.
The singer candidly discussed her challenges with an ex-husband who fell in love with another woman and denied her access to crucial documents. This compelled Akothee to take matters into her own hands, leading her to work as a taxi driver in Mombasa for self-sustainability.
Expanding on her romantic journey, Akothee recounted meeting a persistent foreigner (“mzungu”) who expressed a desire to have a child with her during her time as a dancer. Emphatically asserting her agency in relationships, she declared, “Wazungus go crazy over my long legs and start chasing me. Just know I can’t be dumped. I am the one who leaves them.”
While Akothee’s recent marriage to Denis Schweizer appears to have brought her happiness, she cautioned her husband about potential separations, urging him to avoid unnecessary drama, citing her age as a factor that makes handling additional pressures challenging.
As one of Kenya’s most outspoken and controversial entertainers, Akothee continues to captivate the public with her life anecdotes, music, and distinctive personality.
