Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz has encountered a series of challenges lately, as his recent collaboration titled “Enjoy” has encountered a predicament on YouTube due to alleged copyright concerns.
A surprising turn of events unfolded when the audio for the song, which was released approximately two weeks ago in partnership with Juma Jux, was taken down from the platform following a copyright claim lodged by an individual who asserts themselves as the original creator of the song.
The claimant, who is identified as Sapologuano Odenumz and reportedly hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo, contends that elements from his composition “I Found Love” were utilized in the “Enjoy” track. Odenumz confirmed having filed a copyright complaint with YouTube, which resulted in the removal of the disputed audio.
Expressing astonishment upon discovering the similarities between the two compositions, Odenumz shared that he had attempted to address the matter with Juma Jux, albeit receiving no response.
During an open conversation with a well-known Tanzanian blog, Odenumz conveyed his viewpoint, stating, “Indeed, I issued a copyright strike on the song due to the resemblance of my work, ‘I Found Love,’ which was found within their creation, ‘Enjoy.'”
Furthermore, Odenumz revealed that Diamond Platnumz and Jux had responded with a legal counterclaim through their music distribution company, initiating an ongoing legal dispute.
Odenumz’s primary objective seems to be centered around seeking proper compensation for the usage of his creative output. He conveyed a desire to handle the situation amicably, underscoring that his intention is to be duly acknowledged and fairly remunerated for his artistic contribution.
“In all honesty, my only aim is to receive rightful compensation, as this is a matter pertaining to our creative endeavors, and we are both in the early stages of our careers. While I cannot quantify the extent of my expectations, it’s crucial for us to engage in constructive discussions,” he articulated.
