A woman is seeking a divorce just 40 days after her lavish wedding, citing her husband’s poor hygiene as the primary reason. She claims her husband, Rajesh, refuses to shower daily, with reports indicating he bathes only once or twice a month. This habit has caused ongoing tension between the couple, making it difficult for her to continue living with him.
Frustrated, she approached a family counselling center, explaining that despite her repeated pleas, Rajesh’s bathing habits remained unchanged. Rajesh admitted to bathing infrequently and claimed he has a water allergy, which discourages him from regular showers. He said that since their wedding, he had bathed six times and sometimes resorted to merely sprinkling water on himself to avoid a full bath.
Though he has promised to improve his hygiene and start bathing daily, his wife is resolute in her decision to separate. Her family has also filed a dowry harassment complaint with the local police, further complicating the situation.
The couple has been asked to return to the counselling center on September 22 for further discussion. While Rajesh is willing to change, it remains uncertain whether the marriage can be saved, as his wife insists that poor hygiene is a deal-breaker.
