Why Pharmacy Is One of KMTC’s Most Sought-After Courses

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has highlighted Pharmacy as one of its most competitive and promising programs, urging students to consider it as a viable career path in both local and international healthcare sectors.

In a statement issued on April 24, KMTC outlined the wide range of career opportunities available to Pharmacy graduates, including roles in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and global health organizations.

“Pharmacy remains one of the most marketable and resilient professions today,” the institution stated. Graduates often secure employment in leading healthcare and pharmaceutical establishments both in Kenya and abroad.

KMTC also emphasized the essential role pharmacy professionals play in the health system. Their responsibilities extend beyond dispensing medicine, including patient counseling, administrative duties, and contributions to public health initiatives.

“Pharmacy professionals are involved in clinical trials, health policy, insurance, and academic research,” the college added, noting that the field continues to evolve with advancements in medicine and technology.

March 2025 Intake Applications Now Open

KMTC has opened its March 2025 intake and is encouraging interested applicants to submit their applications through the KUCCPS student portal. The portal provides a full list of available programs and application guidelines.

Rising Global Demand for KMTC Graduates

This comes amid a reported increase in global demand for KMTC-trained professionals. According to the college’s CEO, Kelly Oluoch, countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom are seeking more healthcare workers from Kenya.

Programs such as Clinical Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Medical Laboratory Sciences are also attracting growing interest, alongside Nutrition and Dietetics.

Oluoch linked this trend to global workforce shortages, aging populations, and the increasing burden of lifestyle-related illnesses.

He also noted that bilateral agreements with countries like the UK and Germany have created more structured opportunities for Kenyan graduates to work abroad. KMTC has since enhanced its internal processes to facilitate faster job verification and placement.

The college continues to be recognized for producing skilled healthcare workers who are ready to serve both locally and internationally.
