Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has launched a scathing attack on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of arrogance and threatening to push for the withdrawal of his retirement benefits if he continues to meddle in politics.
Speaking during a political event, Cherargei did not hold back, alleging that Uhuru’s recent statements and actions show he has no intention of staying away from active politics.
“Wewe Uhuru umeanza kuwa na kiburi sana. Hii pesa yenye unapewa ya retirement tutatoa ndio uingie kwa siasa vile unataka,” Cherargei declared, sparking mixed reactions among the crowd.
The senator argued that retirement benefits are meant for leaders who have fully stepped back from politics, not those still engaging in political activities. His remarks come amid renewed political tensions between Uhuru’s allies and the current Kenya Kwanza administration.
Cherargei’s tough talk adds to the growing debate on the former President’s role in the country’s political space, with some defending his right to participate while others insist he should fully retire.
