Wetangula promises Luhyas in Busia-Hapa Busia tunataka tuwajengee stadium kama Emirates ya Arsenal

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has left residents of Busia County excited after promising to push for the construction of a world-class stadium comparable to the Emirates Stadium — home of English Premier League giants Arsenal.

Speaking during a public event in Busia, Wetang’ula said it was time for the Luhya community to enjoy modern sports infrastructure that matches international standards.

“Hapa Busia tunataka tuwajengee stadium kama Emirates ya Arsenal,” Wetang’ula told the cheering crowd, drawing loud applause and laughter.

The Speaker, who hails from Bungoma County, emphasized that sports development remains key to empowering the youth and nurturing talent in Western Kenya. He noted that a well-built stadium would not only promote football and athletics but also attract investors and create job opportunities for locals.

Wetang’ula’s remarks come at a time when calls for improved sports facilities in the region have been growing. Many residents have expressed optimism that such a project could place Busia on the map as a major sporting hub in Kenya.

However, some critics viewed the promise as political rhetoric, noting that similar pledges have been made in the past but never fulfilled. Despite the skepticism, supporters insist that Wetang’ula’s influence in national leadership could make the dream a reality.

If completed, the proposed Busia Stadium could become one of the most modern sports arenas in Kenya — a true symbol of Western Kenya’s pride and rising potential in the world of sports.
