A Kenyan woman has become a beacon of hope and motivation after narrating her long but successful journey to home ownership in the Facebook groups Builders Forum Kenya and Dream Homes. The lady, identified as Maria Nairesiaey, inspired thousands by recounting how sheer determination, faith, and patience helped her complete her dream house after nearly a decade.
Maria revealed that she began her construction journey in 2011 but only managed to complete the house in 2020. Despite the long and challenging process, she credited God’s grace and her unwavering desire to own a home for keeping her focused. “I wish to encourage someone today. Never give up on your dream however small or big they seem to be. This dream took me nine years to accomplish. Started construction in 2011, finished 2020. Three-bedroom ensuite. Income: kuuza chips and a great desire to own my house,” she proudly shared.
Her main source of income came from selling chips, a humble business that many would easily dismiss. However, with consistent savings and clear goals, Maria was able to turn her small hustle into the foundation of her success. She explained that the desire to build her own house kept her disciplined, even when challenges threatened to derail her plans.
A key part of her journey was finding a trustworthy supplier. Maria disclosed that she struck a deal with the supplier where she would send money in small bits. Once the contributions accumulated to a certain amount, she would purchase building materials and resume construction. This arrangement allowed her to move step by step until her dream came true.
“Whenever the account ran dry, I would take a break, save, and then resume construction,” Maria said. She further noted that this process instilled in her a deep saving discipline and taught her the value of patience. According to her assessment, the entire project cost her approximately KSh4 million.
Her remarkable story has since inspired countless Kenyans, particularly those struggling to achieve similar milestones. Many lauded her persistence, emphasizing that her journey proves one doesn’t need a huge salary or wealthy background to accomplish great things — only vision, patience, and commitment. Maria’s success now stands as a powerful reminder that dreams may delay, but with faith and consistency, they are never out of reach.
