Residents of Elburgon in Nakuru County are reeling in shock after an elderly couple, Mr. and Mrs. Machogu, aged 72 and 70, were brutally murdered by their shamba boy in what has been described as a chilling betrayal.
According to reports, the tragedy stemmed from a romantic relationship between the shamba boy and the family’s househelp, who was allegedly pregnant. When disagreements between the two arose, the Machogus, in an attempt to maintain peace in their household, tried to intervene and resolve the conflict. Unfortunately, their mediation efforts did not bear fruit.
The following day, the shamba boy claimed that the househelp had gone missing. But in a shocking turn of events, he turned violent, attacking the elderly couple with a panga. He fatally wounded both before disposing of their bodies in a borehole within the farm.
The gruesome discovery has left the community shaken, as the whereabouts of the househelp remain unknown. Authorities are investigating whether she may have been harmed as well.
Police have since arrested the shamba boy, who confessed to the killings. The incident has sparked fear and sorrow in Elburgon, with residents mourning the Machogus and questioning how a domestic dispute spiraled into such a horrific tragedy.
