Sombre moods as 110 year old man murders his 109 year old wife over denial of conjugal rights

In a harrowing incident that transpired in Ntungamo District, local authorities have documented a homicide case arising from the fatal stabbing of 109-year-old Bakasisa Constancio, a female resident of Kahunga 1 Cell, Kahunga Parish.

As per SP Samson Kasasira, the police spokesperson, the alleged perpetrator of Bakasisa’s murder is her husband, Babiiha Dominic, a 110-year-old male dwelling in the same household. The grim episode unfolded on the evening of December 14, 2023, at around 8 PM, post the evening meal.

It is reported that the accused asked the deceased to join him in his bedroom, a request Bakasisa declined citing weakness and a cough. Subsequently, both individuals retired to their respective rooms, the deceased accompanied by two great-grandchildren.

The following morning, approximately at 7 AM, the suspect raised an alarm, asserting that he couldn’t face death alone. Upon a 10-year-old great-granddaughter opening the door to investigate, she witnessed the accused brandishing a bent panga (Oruhabyo) and was instructed to vacate the room.

SP Kasasira disclosed that the suspect entered the room and ruthlessly stabbed the deceased multiple times. Terrified, the great-grandchild fled the residence, seeking assistance from neighbors who promptly responded.

Upon their arrival, neighbors discovered Bakasisa Constancio lifeless, while Babiiha Dominic had barricaded himself in his bedroom. Upon gaining entry, the suspect was found unconscious, next to a bottle of agrochemical.

Law enforcement was promptly notified and swiftly attended to the crime scene. The suspect was hurried to Itojo Hospital for medical attention, and the crime scene was thoroughly documented, with the murder weapon recovered and presented as evidence.

A postmortem examination conducted on Bakasisa Constancio’s body disclosed that the suspect and the deceased were a married couple cohabiting in the same dwelling but occupying separate sleeping quarters.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the violent act stemmed from the denial of conjugal rights. Nevertheless, inquiries into the matter remain ongoing.
