“Sifuna and Company must be removed from ODM before end of 2025 anazuia Maendeleo ODM ” Cherargei demands

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has launched a scathing attack on ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, claiming he is the biggest threat to the party’s growth and future. Cherargei said Sifuna and his allies must be removed from the Orange Democratic Movement before the end of 2025 if the party hopes to remain relevant and eventually form the next government.

Speaking during a political event, Cherargei accused Sifuna of frustrating efforts by ODM leaders who are seeking to reposition the party after the death of Raila Odinga. He alleged that while many leaders are willing to work with President William Ruto’s administration in a spirit of cooperation, Sifuna has been a stumbling block, constantly undermining unity within the party.

According to Cherargei, Sifuna’s continued defiance and outspoken criticism of certain leaders have weakened ODM’s image and made it difficult for the party to strategize effectively for the future. “Sifuna Kitamramba! He must be removed from ODM before the end of 2025. He is the biggest threat to ODM’s growth and the party’s chance of being in government,” Cherargei said.

In response, Sifuna has maintained that he is committed to protecting ODM’s ideals and ensuring the party remains independent and loyal to its supporters. He insists that the opposition must not be silenced or absorbed by the ruling government, arguing that genuine democracy requires strong checks and balances.

Political observers say Cherargei’s remarks reflect deep divisions within ODM as it seeks to redefine its leadership and direction in the post-Raila era. The power struggle between reformists and loyalists has raised questions about who will steer the party forward — and whether ODM can survive the internal wrangles threatening to tear it apart.
