Satrine Osinya:From Tragedy to Triumph Satrine Osinya Turns 13, Surrounded by Love, Laughter, and Luxury

More than a decade after surviving one of Kenya’s most horrifying terror attacks, Satrine Osinya, the youngest son adopted by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, celebrated his 13th birthday in style and deep affection.

On May 25, 2025, the Osinya family marked this significant milestone with a lavish party and heartwarming tributes, reminding the nation just how far this once-traumatized child has come.

The celebration was nothing short of regal. Photos shared on social media depicted a beaming Satrine posing proudly in front of a sleek white Mercedes-Benz, receiving heartfelt hugs from his adopted parents Mike Sonko and Primrose Mbuvi.

The centerpiece of the celebration was a massive custom cake, paired with a fun-filled day of go-karting with friends.

But what truly stood out was the outpouring of emotion and love from those who have walked this journey with him.

Now 24 years old, Gift posted a touching message alongside a throwback image showing just how much Satrine has grown since joining the Sonko household in 2014.

“Happy birthday, Satrine. May you be happy and have a lovely day,” Gift wrote simply but sincerely.

Primrose Mbuvi added her own powerful tribute, calling on divine blessings to continue guiding the young teen.

“To my son Satrine, may God give you a blessed birthday… May He shine His face upon you and guide your path this day and every day,” she shared, alongside a slideshow of intimate family moments.

Satrine and Gift’s journey into the Sonko family began in heartbreak.

In March 2014, the two were thrust into the national spotlight after an Al-Shabaab-linked attack on Joy Jesus Repentance Church in Likoni, Mombasa, left six people dead.

Their mother was among the casualties.

A viral photo of young Gift carrying a bloodied, bullet-wounded Satrine touched millions and prompted Sonko to take them in, not just as a politician offering help but as a father offering a home.

Over the years, the public has watched the boys flourish under Sonko’s care, attending top schools and enjoying the support of a high-profile, loving family.

Satrine’s 13th birthday is more than a simple coming-of-age it’s a celebration of survival, resilience, and the transformative power of compassion.

As friends, fans, and strangers online flooded social media with warm birthday messages, one thing was clear: Satrine is more than a symbol of tragedy he’s a beacon of hope.

A child who once cried for his mother in a chaotic church is now embraced by a family that champions him every step of the way.
