Famous Sportpesa millionaire Samuel Abisai has, for the first time, opened up about his personal life and how his relationships evolved after winning Kenya’s first Sportpesa jackpot seven years ago. Abisai, who won Ksh. 221 million, revealed that sudden wealth brought significant pressure and challenges, including difficulties in his romantic life.
At the time of his big win, Abisai was dating, but misunderstandings in the relationship became irreconcilable, prompting him to end it. Determined to move on, he turned to Facebook to meet someone new. Using a pseudonymous account under the name Dickson, he began chatting with a woman who was a doctor and also engaged in farming—an interest they both shared.
Their first date in Westlands went well, though she was unaware of his jackpot status. It was only on the second date that she discovered his identity when a waiter addressed him as “boss.” The revelation did not affect their budding connection, and the two soon fell in love. Today, they are married and have a child together.
Reflecting on his journey, Abisai likened finding love to gambling. While luck played a role in his financial success, he believes it also guided him to a fulfilling relationship. He credits patience, shared interests, and mutual respect for the strength of his marriage, describing his wife as the “best” partner he could have hoped for.
