”RUTO AKITAKA KUONGEA NA KALONZO LAZIMA APITIE KWANGU KWANZA,” GACHAGUA SAYS IN MACHAKOS TOWN

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again stirred the political waters with bold remarks made in Machakos Town. Addressing residents during a public event, Gachagua declared that President William Ruto cannot directly engage Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka without first consulting him.

“Ruto akitaka kuongea na Kalonzo lazima apitie kwangu kwanza,” Gachagua stated, sending the crowd into cheers and laughter. His statement highlighted his growing influence within the political space and also revealed the underlying power struggles in Kenya’s political landscape.

The declaration comes at a time when speculation about possible alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election continues to dominate national debate. Kalonzo Musyoka has been positioning himself as a key figure in opposition politics, while still maintaining open communication with government leaders on matters of national interest.

Gachagua’s insistence on being the link between the President and Kalonzo may be interpreted in two ways: either as a show of loyalty to Ruto by shielding him from direct political negotiations, or as a strategic move to stamp his authority as the second-in-command who cannot be bypassed in high-level talks.

His remarks also reflect the shifting nature of Kenyan politics, where alliances are often fluid and negotiations unpredictable. For now, Kalonzo remains a central figure to watch, while Gachagua continues to position himself as the gatekeeper to Ruto’s inner circle.
