Political commentator Philip Aroko has stirred conversation after boldly predicting that President William Ruto will secure a second term in office. Speaking during a recent discussion, Aroko argued that the political strategies currently unfolding strongly favour the president.
However, he added a sharp warning: according to him, ODM is “blackmailing” the president and does not genuinely support his leadership. Aroko claimed that the party’s engagements with the government are driven by self-interest rather than goodwill, suggesting that their cooperation should be treated with caution.
He further argued that the Luo community is unlikely to participate in the 2027 General Election, insisting that disillusionment and political fatigue will significantly affect voter turnout. His remarks have triggered intense debate online, with some supporting his assertion and others criticising it as divisive and dismissive of an entire voting bloc.
While Aroko maintains that President Ruto’s re-election bid remains strong, his comments have added fuel to ongoing conversations about shifting political alliances, voter motivation, and the broader landscape heading into 2027.
