Parliament has had many colorful characters throughout the years, including Nicholas Biwott, famously known as the Bull of Auckland.
Now, Peter Salasya, the Mumias East MP, is vying for the title of the new bull from Mumias, determined to make his mark. Despite being from a county known for bullfighting, Salasya is not content to rest on his laurels and wants to take things up a notch.
At a recent rally in Kisumu, he gained attention for speaking long after his fellow MPs had finished and before the arrival of James Orengo. Salasya has set his sights on Bomet Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir, known as Toto, whom he has promised to impregnate after she criticized Azimio la Umoja coalition party leader Raila Odinga. Salasya has courted controversy since being elected to Parliament and has earned a reputation for his outspokenness, antics, and erratic behavior.
While some admire his fearless attitude, others are put off by his divisive comments and behavior. Only time will tell if he can live up to the legacy of the other bulls in Parliament.
