The National Youth Service extends an invitation to graduates specializing in agriculture to apply for seasonal worker positions in the United Kingdom.
These positions aim to address the workforce requirements of farmers in the UK, focusing on the horticulture sector. The initiative, known as “The Seasonal Worker Scheme (SWS),” was introduced to the National Youth Service through collaboration with the Kenyan High Commissioner to the UK.
The NYS Employment Liaison office shares that successful candidates will be engaged in the fruit and vegetable sector for a tentative period of six months, starting in February 2024. The recruitment process is facilitated by HOPs Labour Solutions, an authorized operator in the UK.
Eligible applicants must be graduates of the National Youth Service with qualifications in agriculture-related fields. They should be prepared to live and work in the UK for six months, committing to return upon the completion of the contract.
Prospective applicants are required to cover certain expenses, including a passport processing fee (approximately Sh6,550), a return ticket cost (direct) of Sh192,500, a Visa application fee of Sh45,325, and a sustainability amount of Sh30,000 to support living costs until the receipt of the first salary. It’s important to note that these costs are estimates.
In addition to financial considerations, candidates must exhibit strong motivation and a genuine interest in practical farming. Good medical and physical fitness are essential, and applicants should be available for briefing and interviews at NYS Yatta Field Unit on December 7, 2023.
The application process involves filling out a Google form with personal details before the deadline on Friday, December 1, 2023. Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to access the form at the following link: https://forms.gle/VDPd7b43ur5oV1SQA.
