The Nigeria Police have apprehended a 17-year-old named Noble Uzuchi for impregnating multiple older women. Along with his accomplice, 29-year-old Chigozie Ogbonna, the two were arrested alongside two women, Favour Bright and Peace Alikoi, for allegedly operating a “baby factory” in the Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas. The arrests were made possible through a tip-off from members of the public.
According to the Rivers Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects were found to be keeping victims of child trafficking in two houses in the Igwuruta and Omagwa communities.
When a woman delivered her baby, the syndicate leader would keep the child and pay the mother a sum of N500,000. Some of the babies had also been sold. The victims stated that they were lured into the illegal sale of children due to financial difficulties.
