Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has fired back at Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, dismissing his threats to field a candidate against him in the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a charged rally, Natembeya mocked Mudavadi’s political influence in the region, saying the only competition Mudavadi could possibly win against him would be one involving food.
“Wewe Mudavadi unasema utasimamisha mtu wako Trans Nzoia anishinde? Labda kama unapanga mashindano ya kukula — hapo unaweza kushinda,” Natembeya said as the crowd burst into laughter.
Natembeya accused Mudavadi and his allies of underestimating his popularity in Trans Nzoia, adding that voters would not be swayed by leaders who have contributed little to the county’s development.
He insisted that his administration is focused on service delivery, not political games, and warned Kenya Kwanza leaders that their attempts to intimidate him would not work.
Natembeya’s remarks add fuel to the growing political rivalry between him and senior Western Kenya leaders, setting the stage for an intense showdown ahead of 2027.
