Nadia Cherono: President Ruto’s ‘Daughter’ Rescued by Nuns after Being Buried Alive as a Newborn


From a humble background,the President proved to the whole world that nothing is impossible before God.Ruto was a chicken seller before former President Daniel Arap Moi introduced him to politics;since then he has never looked back.

“A chicken seller to a president,” intoned the pastor, highlighting Ruto’s humble youth. “A village boy has become the president of Kenya,” Ruto said in his speech.

In his first tweet as president, the evangelical Christian quoted Psalms: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” His speech praised both the church and Islamic leadership, and he vowed that “we will enhance our partnership, build on our collaboration and enhance our support to them.”

The event began with some chaos. Scores of people were crushed and injured as they forced their way into the packed stadium. Medic Peter Muiruri said a fence fell as people pushed it and about 60 were injured, though the number may rise.

In September 2015, President William Ruto made a visit to Madre Ippolata Children’s Home in Machakos County after receiving an invitation to help the institution ran by Catholic nuns raise funds to sustain its operations.

The visit took an emotional turn when President Ruto had the story of a young baby who was rescued by the nuns after she was buried alive and abandoned. 

Ruto was touched by the heartbreaking story and decided to adopt and make the young girl part of his family, adding that he decided to name her Nadia Cherono after his mother. 

“The story of Nadia who was found buried with her body partly decomposing & abandoned as a new born, and has been under the care of Sisters at Madre Ippolata Children’s Home touched my heart. I’ve named her Cherono after my mother and made her part of my family,” he said

On Sunday during a visit to Uganda, Ruto told young people that there is hope and in demonstrating this, he went with Nadia to State House Uganda where he met President Yoweri Museveni.

His message was simple, it is possible to be anything.
