More than 15 construction workers in Kitengela were left stranded after their foreman was robbed of Sh307,000—money meant to pay their weekly wages.
The incident happened on May 3, 2025, shortly after the foreman withdrew the cash from a local bank. He had just picked up the funds from the Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) branch in Kitengela to pay workers at a construction site in the Kimalati area.
On his way to the site, he was stopped by individuals dressed as traffic officers, who accused him of breaking traffic rules. Trusting they were genuine, the foreman complied when they asked him to accompany them to a nearby station.
What followed was an unexpected twist. One of the individuals, along with another man nearby, entered his vehicle. A second car reportedly followed them at a distance. A few minutes later, the foreman was overpowered, and the suspects made away with the cash.
The victim was later abandoned several kilometers away, unharmed but shaken. He managed to report the incident at Muthaiga Police Station, where investigations have since been launched in collaboration with Kitengela authorities.
Police are now pursuing leads to recover the stolen money and bring the suspects to justice.
