Outspoken political analyst and UDA supporter Mike Makarina has launched a scathing attack on Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, accusing her of hypocrisy and deception in her recent political moves.
Speaking during a public address, Makarina did not mince his words as he criticized Wanga, claiming she represents the kind of leadership that cannot be trusted.
“Sijaona mama mjinga kama Gladys Wanga. Kama ODM ingekuwa yake hatungeingia hiyo chama,” Makarina declared, drawing mixed reactions from the audience.
He went on to warn President William Ruto against trusting certain ODM leaders who have recently shown interest in collaborating with the Kenya Kwanza government.
“Ruto usidanganywe na watu kama Gladys Wanga wa kutingisha tu,” he cautioned. “Uanze vita na Babu Owino na Sifuna ndani ya ODM,” Makarina added, suggesting that Wanga’s loyalty remains firmly tied to ODM’s internal politics rather than genuine partnership with the government.
Makarina further argued that ODM’s current turmoil stems from internal betrayals and shifting loyalties, noting that Raila Odinga had valid reasons for distancing himself from certain party members, even when disagreements arose.
“Raila alikuwa na sababu ya kuwaacha ODM hata kama hawakuwa wanakubaliana naye kwa kussuport serikali yako. Chama sio jina tu, chama ni watu,” Makarina remarked.
His remarks have since stirred heated debate both online and in political circles. Supporters of Governor Wanga dismissed the comments as disrespectful and sexist, arguing that political criticism should focus on policy and leadership, not personal insults. Others, however, defended Makarina, saying he was merely calling out political double standards within ODM.
Governor Wanga has not responded publicly to the attack, but sources close to her have indicated that she remains focused on development projects in Homa Bay and strengthening ODM’s grassroots structures.
Makarina’s comments come at a time when President Ruto’s administration continues to court leaders from the opposition, a move that has created rivalries and tension within ODM. His warning appears to reflect the growing suspicion among UDA loyalists that some defecting opposition figures may have hidden motives.
As Kenya’s political realignments continue to unfold, one thing remains clear — Makarina’s fiery remarks have once again thrust him into the spotlight as one of the most controversial and outspoken voices in the country’s political discourse.
