Mejja, the popular artist whose real name is Major Nameye Khadija, recently hinted at trouble in his nearly two-year relationship. In interviews with various online media outlets, he was questioned about the status of his relationship, referencing his recent song “Punguza Ego.”
When asked about the meaning behind the song, one YouTuber asked Mejja, “When is the big day, brother-in-law?” In response, Mejja chuckled and expressed his need for therapy, implying that there are underlying issues in his relationship.
The content creators further inquired about the presence of Mejja’s girlfriend. He replied, “No, she’s not even here. What I can say… well, let me just say it is complicated. Let’s leave it at that.”
Mejja went on to suggest that his girlfriend might be unfaithful. He expressed his belief that a woman can only be considered yours after being together for five to ten years. According to him, a woman is only truly yours when she is with you, and once she steps out, she becomes public property. He compared this concept to claiming ownership of a public park, stating that without a title deed, you cannot assert that it belongs to you.
During a previous interview seven months ago, Mejja had expressed uncertainty about marrying his current girlfriend, acknowledging the challenges of dating in Nairobi. He mentioned that the unpredictable nature of the city makes it difficult to predict the future. However, he also expressed his deep love for her.
It remains unclear what lies ahead for Mejja’s relationship, but his comments suggest that things are not as blissful as they once were.
