Meet Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan, Her Salary & Career Journey

Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla, the popular duo on Citizen TV, have captured the hearts of fans with their remarkable on-screen chemistry, mastery of the Swahili language, and impeccable fashion sense that complements their looks.

As employees of Citizen TV, which is owned by Royal Media Services (RMS), Lulu and Rashid enjoy generous compensation. Notably, Jeff Koinange, another prominent figure on the network, reportedly earns approximately Ksh. 2 million per month. Lulu, too, receives handsome remuneration for her work at the media network.

In a past interview with Spm Buzz, Lulu disclosed that both she and Rashid began their careers in radio, each earning Ksh. 5,000. At the time, Lulu, who was just 20 years old, juggled her role as a part-time news anchor with her studies in media.

What many may not know is that since their first encounter at different media outlets, the couple has always received equal pay. Lulu Hassan shared, “When we moved to Nairobi, we were fortunate to get hired at the same time – Rashid at Nation Media Group and myself at Standard Media Group – and we still earned the same salary.”

Rashid and Lulu also benefit from various additional sources of income, such as advertisements, endorsements, and lucrative investment transactions. On average, the couple earns around Ksh. 2 million per year, with some years yielding even higher earnings.

While the exact salaries of Citizen TV news anchors are not publicly disclosed, insiders suggest that they surpass those of other media organizations by a significant margin.

Before pursuing her career in journalism, Lulu Hassan attended Aga Khan Academy High School and later enrolled in Salrene Travel Operations College. During her college years, she worked in various roles, including cabin crew hostess, ticketing officer, and human resource manager. Lulu continued her education in communication and journalism, honing her skills in the field.
