A man has been left heartbroken after discovering that his girlfriend of three years secretly married another man, using the money he had given her under the pretense of preparing for her sister’s wedding.
The betrayal has deeply affected him, and he is now overwhelmed with thoughts of ending his life.
Linguist and editor Maazi Ogbonnaya Okoro shared the man’s distressing story on Facebook, including screenshots from their WhatsApp conversations.
According to the messages, the man—whose identity remains undisclosed—was made to believe that his girlfriend, Chidera, was organizing her sister’s wedding. She informed him that the traditional wedding ceremony would be held on Friday, followed by the white wedding on Saturday.
Fully trusting her, he accompanied Chidera on shopping trips to Onitsha Market on Tuesday and Wednesday, spending a significant amount of money to make sure she had everything she needed. After the shopping, he even sent KSh 15,000 to Chidera’s sister and arranged for her return home on Thursday, thinking he was helping with the wedding preparations.
The devastating truth came to light when he discovered that the wedding was not for Chidera’s sister, but for Chidera herself. The woman he had loved and supported for years had used his money to marry another man.
