‎Kibera Woman Whose Husband Was Shot Dead During Body Viewing Process At Kasarani Speaks

‎The family of Evans Onyango Kiche has been plunged into deep mourning following his tragic death at Kasarani Stadium during the public viewing of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s body.

‎According to reports, Evans was allegedly shot dead by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers after chaos erupted as large crowds surged forward to view the late leader’s body.

‎Witnesses said the officers struggled to control the growing number of mourners who had turned up in thousands, leading to panic and confusion.

‎Evans, who had traveled from Nairobi’s Eastlands area to pay his final respects, reportedly found himself caught in the middle of the commotion when security forces fired shots to disperse the crowd.

‎Unfortunately, one of the bullets is said to have struck him, leading to his death on the spot.

‎Speaking to Vocal Africa, his grieving wife, Brenda Akoth, described her late husband as a loving, hardworking, and caring man who always put his family first.

‎“He was my hero, my best friend, and my pillar. I just want justice for my husband. He didn’t deserve to die this way,” she said tearfully.

‎Brenda recalled that Evans had been looking forward to paying his last respects to Raila Odinga, whom he deeply admired.

‎“He left home early that morning, saying he wanted to be among the first to view Raila’s body. I never thought that would be the last time I would see him alive,” she added.

‎Family members and friends have condemned the incident, calling on authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Evans’ death.

‎Human rights groups have also urged the government to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
