Kenyan Couple making 50,000 shillings per week from sleeping online

Imagine earning money while catching up on your daytime sleep! This is the unique story of a young Kenyan couple who have managed to make Ksh.50,000 from their daytime slumber.

Raymax and Maycee Ochieng, popularly known as The Ray’s on TikTok, have found a lucrative source of income by live-streaming their daytime naps. The couple has gained fame for sharing their moments in bed, eventually dozing off, while their followers watch them until the early hours of the morning.

In a previous interview, Maycee Ochieng shared that there was a week where they raked in over Ksh.60,000. She recalled specific days where they woke up with Ksh.20,000, followed by Ksh.30,000 the next day, and an additional Ksh.10,000. The couple’s unique content showcases their unconventional sleep schedule, capturing the attention and curiosity of their audience.

However, Maycee admitted that their weekly earnings have seen a slight decline, attributing it to the short attention span of their Kenyan audience. She expressed that the fascination with watching them sleep has waned, and they are currently facing challenges in maintaining their previous earnings.

Maycee also revealed how, during their peak, fans were so captivated by their content that they would send gifts, allowing them to make up to Ksh.60,000 in just one week. Their success was evident as they transitioned from living in the slums of Kibera to a more comfortable two-bedroom apartment.

The couple acknowledged that creating content based on their sleep has its own set of challenges. Ray mentioned that they receive harsh comments and occasional insults from their fans, some of whom urge them to find more conventional jobs. Despite this, Ray considers their sleep-centric content creation as their full-time job, emphasizing that it is not as easy as it may seem.

Maycee highlighted the purpose of their videos as a means to spread love and showcase their contentment with each other. She emphasized that their content is not meant to encourage laziness but rather to convey the message that love should be cherished.

Despite facing challenges and a decline in earnings, the couple remains optimistic about the future. They have been approached by companies for potential brand endorsements, giving them hope for a potential increase in their income.
