The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has refuted claims circulating on social media about alleged mining activities in Tsavo East National Park.
In a statement released to the press, KWS clarified that the images being shared online are not from Tsavo East National Park. The agency emphasized that no mining operations are occurring within the park.
According to KWS, the images in question actually depict the Galana Kulalu Food Security Project, which is located on Galana Ranch, managed by the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC). This area is adjacent to Tsavo East National Park.
“This project, led by the State Department of Irrigation, aims to improve food security in Kenya through large-scale irrigation and sustainable farming practices,” KWS stated. “As part of the initiative, canals are being built to channel water to irrigation farms.”
KWS reaffirmed its commitment to conserving and protecting Kenya’s national parks and wildlife heritage.
