Days after the Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau, also known as Kate Actress, clarified her separation from the renowned actor Philip Karanja, also known as Director Phil, she has now disclosed that her ex-husband’s addiction to khat (jaba) significantly impacted their intimate life.
In a recent statement, Kate Actress, who has generally kept her personal life private, reflected on her marriage, characterizing it as a challenging experience. She alleges that her then-husband failed to fulfill their marital responsibilities, showing a singular focus on consuming khat.
According to Kate Actress, when she confronted him about the issue, he would dismiss her concerns, urging her to be more serious in life and to shift her focus away from matters of intimacy.
“I made every conceivable effort to endure in that marriage, but I reached a point where it became impossible. He was oblivious to everything except indulging in Hennessy and Murambe. Whenever I desired affection, it required me to practically beg for attention, and that’s why I decided to end it,” said Kate Actress in her statement.
When Philip and Kate Actress went their separate ways, Kate Actress had previously stated in a social media post that their divorce was not a hidden affair; rather, they had chosen to keep it private.
