Kamene Goro has rejected claims that she was dismissed from Radio Africa Group due to excessive absenteeism. In a recent statement, Kamene made it clear that her contract had simply come to an end and there was no need for renewal.
“I wasn’t fired, my contract expired this month and there was no reason to extend it. I just wanted to move on to new opportunities,” Kamene explained.
Kamene also emphasized that she never came to work while under the influence of alcohol. She mentioned that the only instance of absence from work was due to illness in 2022.
“Last year, I was really sick and I even posted a video on my Instagram to let everyone know. I missed work because I was sick and I followed the proper protocol by submitting a leave letter. I never came to work drunk or under the influence because I was running the desk, and it is impossible to do that in such a state,” Kamene stated.
Finally, Kamene wished her replacement, Sheila Kwamboka, all the best and praised her for her talent. “Sheila is a great host and I am confident she will do an excellent job. I wish her all the success,” Kamene concluded.
