Alego Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi has criticized Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing him of remaining loyal to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in previous elections without securing meaningful gains. Speaking during a political rally, Atandi argued that Kalonzo’s alliance with Raila in the last three elections failed to yield tangible benefits for him or his supporters.
“Kalonzo, you stuck with Raila and gave him nothing! The three elections went nowhere! At least Ruto fought for him to get Prime Minister,” MP Atandi said.
Atandi’s remarks highlight the political tensions within opposition circles, where some leaders feel that repeated alliances have not translated into proportional rewards or power-sharing. He contrasted this with President William Ruto, whom he credited for negotiating positions and opportunities for allies during his administration.
The MP’s comments have sparked debate on social media, with some Kenyans agreeing that political loyalty should be rewarded, while others insist that Kalonzo’s choices were based on principles and long-term strategy.
Atandi’s statement underscores a broader conversation in Kenyan politics about alliances, loyalty, and the tangible benefits of political partnerships, especially as the country approaches the 2027 election cycle.
