‘I regret letting rubbish into My life” Joyce Maina Reacts After Tony Kwalanda’s Revelations on Why They Broke Up

One week ago, Tony Kwalanda, a media personality, opened up about the reasons behind his recent breakup with actress Joyce Maina, shedding light on the cultural disparities that ultimately led to their separation.

During an interview with Radio 47, Kwalanda disclosed that despite their deep love for each other and initial plans to cohabit, their relationship encountered challenges due to differences in their cultural backgrounds.

Kwalanda, belonging to the Luhya tribe, highlighted a significant disagreement regarding the naming of their future children. According to Kabras tradition, it is customary for the father to name the children. However, Joyce, being of Kikuyu descent, expressed her desire to have a say in naming their offspring, leading to tension between them.

“Joyce Maina, a girl my heart deeply loved; we met in a peculiar way. We dated, and our relationship progressed to the point where we explored homes to share as a couple, meeting her parents who were aware of our union.

However, certain aspects, perhaps due to my immaturity or personal beliefs, became points of contention rooted in our respective cultural norms. I come from a background where certain traditions hold significant importance, whereas Joyce, from her perspective, may not have placed the same emphasis. There was a moment in the car, a basement parking conversation, where she expressed her desire to name our children. I tried to explain our customs, particularly in Malaba, where men traditionally name the children. Joyce insisted, stating she is the carrier of the child, and I sensed potential complications. This, among other factors, contributed to my decision, as I felt a single aspect such as naming could lead to further issues,” explained Kwalanda.

Joyce Maina responded to Kwalanda’s revelation through social media, expressing regret for allowing negativity into her life. She reflected on her past choices, acknowledging moments of imprudence and stating her transformation into a different person. She questioned her previous decisions and emphasized her current sense of self-awareness, contemplating her own judgment in retrospect.
