On April 22, Allan Ochieng, known as Hype Ballo, stood before the Kiambu High Court accused of the murder of Felix Kelian Kintosi, a dedicated DCI officer from DCI Dagoretti. Denying all accusations, Hype Ballo firmly maintained his innocence.
Despite his plea, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), represented by prosecution counsel Jenifer Ndeda, sought his detention until a social inquiry report by Probation and Aftercare was completed.
Accompanied by Dj Joe Mfalme and several others, Hype Ballo faced the solemn proceedings in court. However, while Dj Joe Mfalme and six others were eventually released and transitioned into prosecution witnesses, Hype Ballo found himself formally charged with the murder.
Responding to the prosecution’s request, Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony approved the application, leading to Hype Ballo’s remand for an additional seven days at Nairobi Remand Prison.
Initially apprehended alongside six companions implicated in Kintosi’s murder, the legal process singled out Hype Ballo as the sole defendant facing the gravest accusations.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the anticipation builds for the upcoming bail/bond application hearing, slated for May 2, 2024.
