How Kenyan celebrities are living fake lives on social media, according to Size 8

Gospel sensation Linet Munyali, popularly known as Size 8, has taken a firm stand against the prevalent trend of celebrities portraying artificial lifestyles on social media.

Speaking with Citizen TV, the “Mateke” hitmaker expressed her concerns about the deceptive conduct of individuals who share pictures of other people’s vehicles on social platforms, falsely claiming them as their own.

According to Size 8, social media is rife with fabricated realities where people flaunt ostentatious lifestyles that do not reflect their actual circumstances. Some individuals even resort to posing beside others’ cars, captioning the images with statements like ‘2024 winning,’ contributing to the proliferation of inauthentic online personas.

Size 8 emphasized the detrimental impact of such misleading social media practices, noting that they can lead people to doubt their faith in God based on false comparisons with others.

The gospel singer not only criticized deceptive social media practices but also revealed her own transformative journey driven by a desire for authenticity. When she released her first gospel song, Size 8 initially doubted its success and had a backup plan to open a business. However, the song became a hit, affirming her transition to a gospel artist.

Despite her success in gospel music, Size 8 faced challenges in balancing her singing career with her commitment to preaching. This struggle prompted her to take a hiatus from the industry, during which she fell ill. It was during this period that Size 8 decided to prioritize her relationship with God over her musical career.

Reflecting on the challenges of 2016, Size 8 acknowledged that those trials strengthened her on her spiritual journey. She disclosed that embracing her faith led to parting ways with friends, with genuine ones becoming envious and others revealing their insincerity. The pressure and loneliness led her to daily drinking and late-night clubbing.

Size 8 admitted that if she hadn’t changed her lifestyle, she might have succumbed to the isolating environment, potentially facing substance abuse or even contemplating suicide. This confession underscores the transformative power of her decision to prioritize faith over the trappings of a superficial and misleading lifestyle.
